Cicada

I grew up calling these insects locusts. I collected their exoskeletons and their songs seemed to be constant on the long hot summer days I spent with my grandparents in the rural south of the U.S. Now everybody refers to them as Cicadas. This drawing on paper began as a part of a larger drawing on panel entitled Wounded Rising. This version presents the cicada as a wall decal printed with archival aqueous inks on Photo Tex wall decal fabric and hand cut by the artist. 1.1”w X 2.5”h
